Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil adaptation is hitting cinemas on September 18 and the film’s runtime has been revealed – one hour and 35 minutes.
Cregger, who recently spoke to IGN about the film, said that the film “feels like one gigantic sequence,” while comparing it to Frodo’s journey to Mordor in Lord of the Rings.
“Things pop off about five minutes in and it basically stays like that until the end. What I love about the games is that you move from set-piece to set-piece. Every location has a unique challenge. So again, I’m borrowing from the games directly in that rhythm, where you’re just running through a gauntlet.”
Cregger, whose credits include Weapons and Barbarian has stated several times that his adaptation of Capcom’s popular survival horror series will not remake any of the stories told in the games.
“I’m not going to tell Leon’s story, because Leon’s story is told in the games. [Fans] already have that.”
As a big fan of Resident Evil, I love seeing different takes on the series, and with Cregger’s recent form, I’m excited to see what he’s cooked up.
