God Of War Laufey Squares Away A Release Date

Or should that be cubes away a release date? In the name of Phranqe.

Developer Santa Monica Studios has revealed that God of War Laufey will be releasing on PS5 on February 16, 2027.

The announcement was made during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con this week, which featured Santa Monica Studios Head of Creative, Cory Barlog and Laufey Game Director Ariel Lawrence, as well as Faye actor Deborah Ann Woll, Kratos actor Christopher Judge, Rue actor Perlina Lau, and everyone’s favourite goopy cube, Jack Quaid. Quaid being the voice and motion capture actor (weirdly) behind the gelatinous cube, Phranque.

Revealed during the most recent PlayStation State of Play, Laufey will shift the focus away from the Greek rage machine we all know and love and will instead be centred around his wife, and Atreus’ mother, Faye. Instead of being an out-and-out prequel, the events of Laufey will play out alongside God of War 2018 and its sequel, with Faye exploring the afterlife of the gods, known as the Everywhen, following her death.

The enormous 20-minute gameplay trailer that revealed the title made it clear that we wouldn’t be waiting too long to get our hands on the game, and now we know exactly how long that wait will be.

We want to hear from you. Is February far enough removed from the crime simulator of it all? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
