Dawn of War IV Leaves September In The Dust With A Girthy Delay

The initial plans to drop Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV in September have been orbitally nuked, with developer KING Art Games dropping a brand spanking new December 3 release date alongside an updated post-release roadmap to keep people up to date on what to expect and when.

Don’t expect radio silence during this new stretch though, as a developer insight video has been released to explain the logic behind the delay – but to also promise more coverage on how the game is shaping up while we all wait.

Jan Theysen, Creative Director at KING Art Games, explained the logic behind the delay:

The additional time will allow us to continue optimising performance, resolving bugs, and applying further polish to ensure players have the best possible experience from day one

All pretty boilerplate stuff. In a modern age of daunting early access, buggy launches and games that wither and die within weeks of hitting live it’s actually quite refreshing to hear a developer say yeah nah we are going to cook some more. For me personally, I’d also love to see some more beta news inside of this new pre-release window that might get more hands on the game before launch. There are a lot of moving parts within an RTS game, and the more people kicking the gears, the better.

We want to hear from you. Does the Christmas season suit you for some epic Warhammer 40k action? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
