Do you think he will walk for miles in the Tartarus pit of danger?
Here’s some good news to come out of a bad situation. Variety has confirmed that Dave Bautista will be replacing Ryan Hurst as Kratos in the upcoming God of War series currently in production with Amazon Prime Video.
The change was necessary, as Hurst suffered an unfortunate injury during filming, tearing his bicep. Once production halted and his injury was assessed, the studio determined the required recovery time wouldn’t be feasible, prompting it to look for a new leading man.
Earlier this month, it was reported that actor and former WWE wrestler Dave Bautista was in talks with Amazon to don the Leviathan axe, and now we know those negotiations were successful. Now that the series has its new Kratos, production is set to resume in the coming weeks.
Truth be told, I think this casting is spectacular. Not only is Bautista in the right shape to embody the former God of War, but his years spent as The Animal in WWE give him a leg up in physical acting that many in Hollywood don’t possess. I will say, however, I am now expecting Kratos to hit a draugr with a Batista Bomb, and I’ll be horribly disappointed if that doesn’t happen.
We want to hear from you. How do you feel about this recasting? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
