Get ready to crash the packs and become a football-seeking rust bucket on August 13, with Pro Jank Footy bringing its chaotic and comedic Aussie Rules experience to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and 1, and PC.
Developers Powerbomb Games and Tinker Town, and publisher Umbrella Entertainment announced the news with a brand-new trailer directed by none other Michael Cusick, showing off more of the madness that players can expect.
And just what can players expect from a game that features Aunty Donna’s Broden Kelly on commentary duties? A hilarious mix of Aussie Rules, NBA Jam, and the card game Fluxx.
Pro Jank Footy is a retro-inspired arcade Aussie Rules game built on the following foundations: power-ups, brawls, and pure jank. Playing against the machine in single-player or against other footy fans in local or online multiplayer featuring fictional suburban teams, such as the South Coast Prawns, Pro Jank Footy takes the sport and gives players the licence to make it wild with more than 150 power-ups. Power-ups include shrinking your opponents, turning every player into a seagull, and unleashing wind that makes every kick go backwards, ensuring that matches are always different.
I played the game at PAX Australia 2025 and it was a ton of fun, so this is one that I’ve been excited to get my hands on. If that spiel isn’t enough to convince you, Broden Kelly says, “Pro Jank Footy is the birth of a new era in gaming. Join us or die,” when talking about the game’s release date news.
If you’re sold, add the game to your Steam Wishlist in anticipation. Or if you’re Melbourne-based, you can head to The Victoria Hotel in Brunswick or The Great Northern Hotel in Carlton North to play the game now on one of its incredible arcade cabinets.
