Parkour zombie slaying, cosmic dread, and wholesome walks with your mates.
The PlayStation Plus Essential games for August have been announced. The line-up will include Big Walk, Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition, and Signalis. All three games will be available to subscription holders on August 4.
Excitingly, the day-and-date release for August’s PlayStation Plus offering is one developed by an Aussie studio. Big Walk is a social puzzle-and-exploration experience that lets you and your friends hang out and adventure through a wide bushland area, solving puzzles and communicating in various ways. This co-op adventure comes from House House, the team behind Untitled Goose Game, so you can expect shenanigans to ensue when your group goes stomping around the forest.
If walking isn’t your pace and you prefer a more high-octane form of foot travel, maybe Dying Light 2 will be your bag. The sequel to the first-person zombie hack-a-thon allows for four-player co-op, letting you and your mates explore an open world filled with shambling undead that stumble during the day and sprint during the night. Not all new ideas and additions land perfectly, but there’s something very satisfying about drop-kicking a brain eater off a three-story building.
Cosmic horror and survival mechanics go together like butter and bread, but it’s a particularly excellent match in Signalis. Set in a macabre sci-fi world, an amnesiac android searches for answers, only to be met by homicidal creatures and challenging puzzles. The last thing I’ll say is that the game sports a hell of a pixel art style. Now, go into this game with no further knowledge. You’ll thank me.
You have until August 3 to download July games: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, For the King II, and CrossCode. If you don’t have space on your console at the moment, remember that you can add the games to your library and access them at a later date.
