Battlefield 6 – Season 4 Is Set To Include New Maps, Modes, Weapons, And A Top Gun Crossover

We knew Battlefield 6 Season 4 would see the return of naval warfare to the series, and now we know exactly what else will be packaged along with it.

Following an action-packed gameplay trailer that highlighted the large-scale naval maps coming in Season 4, Battlefield Studios has outlined the roadmap for the upcoming content drop, giving us a solid look at what we can expect from the coming months. As with all previous seasons, this next one will be divided up into three distinct phases, each bringing with it several new weapons, maps, modes, and more.

The season kicks off on July 22 with Pacific Front. This first phase introduces the first of the two new maps: Tsuru Reef. This will be the largest map available in the game, consisting of various islands surrounded by sea, giving players the first real opportunity to fight on the land, sea, and sky.

Helping soldiers get around the archeology will be a pair of new naval vehicles. The 7.7m NSW RHIB is a tricked-out dinghy with a 50 calibre turret attached at the front. Yes, it has some offensive capability, but this tub is meant for troop transport first and foremost. The RCB-90, on the other hand, is an assault craft with numerous death-dealing tools, including a mounted autocannon and torpedoes.

Don’t stress, once you make it to dry land, you’ll have some new toys to play with. The EF88 assault rifle, the BROD 3 carbine, and the VSSM DMR will all be entering the mix by way of the battle pass.

The title of the second phase of Season 4, beginning on August 19, will give you a pretty good indication of what to expect. Named Top Gun, this content phase welcomes back the beloved Wake Island map to inject even more naval nastiness into the multiplayer suite, while also welcoming a new mode. In a crossover with Paramount, Season 4 will see the Top Gun franchise blended with Battlefield, resulting in a new mode called Carrier Strike. Both teams will look to defend their own aircraft carrier, while doing whatever they can to capture and destroy the enemy’s.

Ensuring that this is an actual crossover, three characters from the Top Gun series will make an appearance in-game: Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, played by Miles Teller; Lt. Robert “Bob” Floyd, played by Lewis Pullman; and Adm. Solomon “Warlock” Bates, played by Charles Parnell. Top Gun-themed skins and cosmetics will also be made available during the season.

The Top Gun phase will fittingly introduce two new jets: the F/A-81F Super Spectre and the F-74A Seacat. Alongside these aerial monsters, you’ll also be able to get hold of the Interdicator sniper rifle. More generally, this phase will include a new spectator mode, as well as the ability to create custom lobbies. These are two highly requested features, so it’s great to see that they’re on the way.

Lastly, Tidal Strike will round out the season beginning on September 16. While less content-heavy than the previous two phases, Tidal Strike will still bring the heat with a collection event that can see players earn the diver’s knife melee weapon. Those who frequent Battlefield REDSEC can also look forward to proximity chat being added during this phase, as well as a new “discoverable secret.”
