Cool, I didn’t need to play any other board games anyway.
Tabletop publisher Awaken Realms has announced Nemesis Legacy, a campaign-driven variation on the well-established horror board game. Designed by Rob Daviou, Jaime Barriga, and Adam Kwapinski, Legacy is currently sitting as a campaign preview on Gamefound, with the funding campaign to kick off in Q4 2026.
For those who haven’t played Nemesis, or any of its follow-up games, do yourself a favour and get around them. Nemesis is a semi-co-operative survival horror game set on a spacecraft in deep space that has fallen into pandemonium when an infestation of alien creatures starts creeping through the air vents.
Up to five players take control of a member of the crew as they search through the ship, collect resources, complete objectives, and risk death by combating the various alien threats onboard. The twist in the base game is that each player has two hidden objectives to choose from: one more passive, the other more devious. While working with your fellow players, you are secretly trying to undermine and kill the person next to you, or set the ship’s course for Mars instead of Earth.
The core mechanics are punishing and rewarding, but it’s the hidden objectives that really add that secret sauce to the experience.
Nemeis Legacy takes this foundation and builds a campaign around it. Like all legacy titles, Nemesis Legacy sees a group of players work through a story that spans across multiple play sessions, with progression, consequences, and decisions carrying over from session to session.
According to the campaign preview, Legacy will feature a “scenario generator” to keep interactions fresh and tense, as well as recharge packs that will allow you to reset your game to be played again.
