Real talk, I’ve largely stuck to the multiplayer suite in Battlefield 6, but this might tempt me across to the free-to-play portion of the game.
Battlefield Studios has just announced that a new mode is coming to Battlefield REDSEC in Season 5. The game mode, called Rapid Royale, is an alternate version of the tried-and-true battle royale, but modified to be quicker and snappier.
In Rapid Royale, the map will be smaller, and so will the player count, with more frequent circles pushing players into encounters more often and crowning a winner in a much tighter timeframe. As someone who can become quickly discouraged by gathering gear for 20 minutes only to be blasted by a far more skilled player, this version of a battle royale sounds far more appealing.
The other major feature coming on September 15 is proximity chat. This beloved chat feature, which will absolutely get me killed time and again, will be available through battle royale first, before coming to other modes later.
Lastly, for those with a much higher skill ceiling than my own, Battlefield Studios is introducing the Open Series. A gateway to the big-time competitive scene, the Open Series will run from October 24 through November 21, with three rounds taking place. Beginning with 384 teams per region (APAC, EMEA, and the Americas), before being whittled down to just a single squad.
We want to hear from you. Are you a diehard REDSEC fan, or will this have you logging in for the first time? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
