The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct took place this morning, and it packed a hell of a punch. We got info on a new Amiibo, a whole arse 40th Anniversary concert, and a bunch more, but the main course was always going to be The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time remake.
First things first. Yes, we got a release date, and it’s around the corner. Ocarina of Time will release on Switch 2 on November 5.
Oh boy, did we get a girthy look at this highly anticipated title. Instead of a typical trailer, we got a gameplay breakdown, including new features like manual jumping and sprinting. Sure, that may not sound revolutionary, but they’re both more than welcome additions.
The game’s new art style is whimsical and storybook, but also realistic in places. It’s bound to be divisive, but holy smokes, am I a fan. It feels new and nostalgic at the same time. It’s also worth pointing out the new feature that allows you to hum a song for Link to play on the Ocarina in-game. It’s so novel, but I will absolutely be humming away to turn it from night to day every chance I get.
