Capcom has announced that it has moved the release date of Onimusha: Way of the Sword from September 25 to September 4.
Way of the Sword is the latest entry in Capcom’s long-running samurai series and the first mainline entry since 2006’s Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams. Set during the Edo period in an alternate dark Kyoto, it follows Miyamoto Musashi as he battles demonic enemies known as the Genma who have invaded the city to spread Malice – a supernatural force corrupting the land. A demo is available now for players to check out roughly 30 minutes of gameplay.
Given how stacked September is and with Grand Theft Auto VI looming large in November, it makes sense for Capcom to give Onimusha: Way of the Sword as much breathing room as possible. As a long-time Onimusha fan, Way of the Sword is one of my most anticipated titles of 2026, so getting to play it earlier is very welcome news.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on September 4.
