Kirby And The World Beyond Is A New 3D Adventure For The Pink Puffball

As far as show closers go, this was a pretty stellar way to end today’s Nintendo Direct.

The final announcement to come out of this morning’s Nintendo Direct was Kirby and the World Beyond, a brand-new 3D adventure that looks to build on the foundation that is Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

As the reveal trailer demonstrates, this is an open-world Kirby title, with the titular pink pal running around a grassy environment, hoovering up enemies and copying their abilities to help traverse the world and access hidden secrets. The trailer also hints at power-up copy abilities, such as a supercharged sword that can cleave through trees and even tear down a mysterious wall that contains the area.

After Kirby sends King DeDeDe Team Rocketing through what was thought to be the sky, it becomes clear that there’s a Truman Show situation going on, with a wider world hidden beyond the dome. The game’s official page on the Nintendo Store indicates that the mysterious girl seen in the trailer might be linked to Kirby’s new abilities and the odd facade, so we’ll have to wait to find out more.

Give the reveal trailer a watch; it’s cute as hell:

We don’t have a date for Kirby and the World Beyond just yet, but we know that it’s coming to Switch 2 in 2027.
