The full ESRB listing for Marvel’s Wolverine spouts a great many things you’d likely expect from such a game – blood and gore, drug references, intense violence, strong language, the kind of thing you’d expect from an outing with Logan.
One thing that may catch you off guard however, is a mention of “Partial Nudity”.
The full breakdown of content within the game sounds like a violent gore fest, with the author of the rating summary sounding like they are describing an ideal comic book outing come to life:
Players use their claws to slash, stab, and slice enemies; rage modes allow players to enact faster, more destructive combos and slow-motion finishers (e.g., dramatically stabbing an enemy in the head). Combat is highlighted by frequent blood-splatter effects, screams of pain, and dismemberment/decapitation. Battlefields are sometimes strewn with torsos and limbs; cutscenes can also depict blood and gore (e.g., characters tearing enemies apart, decapitating enemy soldiers).
The swerve comes from the sudden change of pace right at the end:
A handful of sequences briefly depict a character’s exposed buttocks.
Woof. There will be an arse in the game. Given the history of the man that would become Weapon X, it is almost guaranteed that the bum being spoken of would belong to him, as there has been no shortage of times where he has had his kit out.
Heck, there is an entire big-budget Hollywood scene of Hugh Jackman running amok in the nude-verine. Seriously, take a quick squiz below and count the number of times you see some posterior cleft:
This is all speculative of course, given that the listing does not specify whose buttocks are on display. A betting man would be safe with the (ass)umption of it being Wolverine, but it would be a laugh to find out that perhaps Cyclops turns up within the game to moon the player. Or Deadpool has a racy shower scene.
Actually, maybe a flamethrower incident will see a scorched Wolverine reduced to being undressed. The sky really is the limit with this one.
